Season’s Greetings from Communities Prepared

At the end of a wonderfully busy year preparing for, and launching, the national roll-out of Communities Prepared, we’d like to thank everyone for their support and contributions and wish you all a happy and peaceful holiday. A special thank you to our partners, funders and others who’ve been instrumental in making the project possible. We look forward to working with you all in 2020.

At Communities Prepared we’ll be taking a break from December 23rd, returning on 6th January. In the meantime, you can find useful information and links on our hub along with Met Office weather warnings and flood warnings from the Environment Agency.

Coming up in 2020

We’re participating in or running a number of regional meetings and events in early 2020 as well as hosting our own community resilience workshops in Wiltshire and Dorset.

· Tuesday 14th January – Presenting at the Dorset Flood Wardens Day, organised by the EA. This will be an overview of the programme and our planned work in Dorset through funding from SSEN. For more information and to book your place, click here Another member of our team will also be busy presenting on the 14th but at the Hampshire and Isle of Wight LRF meeting

·  Monday January 20th  – Delivering a train the trainer session for Suffolk County Council’s Joint Emergency Planning Unit. We’ll be running through the training modules and providing guidance on how these should be delivered, as well as the wider programme approach, and taking questions from council officers. Interested in a train the trainer session for your organisation? Get in touch here

· Thursday 23rd January – Delivering an evening introductory community meeting in Sparkhill (Birmingham), (which was postponed from November due to flooding!)

·  Tuesday 28th January – Delivering a train the trainer session for four neighbouring rural community charities (RCCs) in Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire, Hertfordshire and Bedfordshire, with the invitation also extended to Hertfordshire 4×4 response coordinator and training officer
