Communities Prepared Lowestoft: Coordinating Community Volunteers

This webinar for Lowestoft communities provides guidance on how to lead a Community Emergency Volunteer or Flood Warden group.

Leading a group of volunteers or managing volunteering efforts during an emergency can be a daunting experience, even for the most experienced. This webinar from Communities Prepared is aimed at members of the Lowestoft community who are currently involved in organising volunteering efforts or are interested in developing the skills and confidence to become Coordinators of Community Emergency Volunteer groups or a lead Flood Wardens.

The session will explore managing volunteers and maintaining engagement and how to integrate or build upon partnerships with the wider emergency response structure. It will be co-delivered by Groundwork East and Communities Prepared (led by Groundwork South), with support from the Environment Agency's East Anglia Flood Resilience Team and East Suffolk Council.

Join this session to build your knowledge on a range of key topics, including

• Leadership skills

• Organising training sessions

• Managing volunteer debriefing sessions

• Writing risk assessments

As well as giving advice on managing a group during an emergency, the session also provides tips on setting up a group and running training sessions, based on first-hand experience from volunteer groups. This webinar is based on the Communities Prepared training module: CEV Coordinator, which is available to download from the Communities Prepared website for free for all members.
