This webinar is for Community Emergency Volunteer/Flood Warden groups based in the East Midlands. It will explore the role of a flood volunteer before, during and after a flood event, as well as covering key flood water safety measures.

This session will look at the causes of flooding, including the impacts of Climate Change, the different types of flooding and how flood risk is communicated by the Environment Agency. It will then move on to the important issue of flood water safety, with information and guidance for flood volunteers on carrying out their roles safely and responsibly, minimising exposure to risks and supporting the community.

Join this session to build your knowledge on a range of key topics, including:

• Managing flood risk – who’s responsible?

• Weather and flood warning systems

• The potential role of a volunteer before, during and after a flood

• Protecting the wellbeing of a volunteer and the wider community during a flood

Throughout the webinar we will be referring to the two training handbooks on which this session is based. You can download and read Flood Volunteer Part 1 and Flood Volunteer Part 2 from our hub.
