October 26th, 2021 6:00 PM   through   8:00 PM
Leading a group of volunteers or managing volunteering efforts during an emergency can be a daunting experience, even for the most experienced. This webinar is for Coordinators of Community Flood Action and Community Emergency Response groups across the five Cambridgeshire district councils. It provides guidance on leading and managing volunteers, as well as maintaining group engagement.

Discussion points include managing volunteers and maintaining engagement and how to integrate or build upon partnerships with the wider emergency response structure.

This webinar is the third session in the Cambridgeshire Series, co-delivered with the Environment Agency’s East Anglia Flood Resilience Team (Great Ouse catchment), and Cambridgeshire County Council, with support from the five district councils: South Cambridgeshire District Council, Cambridge City Council, East Cambridgeshire District Council, Huntingdonshire District Council and Fenland District Council. This series follows on from two successful training sessions run in partnership with Cambridgeshire CC and South Cambridgeshire DC for South Cambridgeshire Community Flood Action groups in June 2021.

Join this session to build your knowledge on a range of key topics, including

• Leadership skills

• Organising training sessions

• Managing volunteer debriefing sessions

• Writing risk assessments

As well as giving advice on managing a group during an emergency, the session also provides tips on setting up a group and running training sessions, based on first-hand experience from volunteer groups.

Throughout the webinar we will be referring to the training handbook on which this session is based. You can download and read CEV Coordinator from our hub. If you are not currently a member, you will be prompted to register – it’s free to join! For any questions regarding the hub, please get in touch.
